Musical Charades for String Ensemble

Directions

Divide the orchestra into at least two teams (at least 3 students per team).

  • Team A is shown three clues and chooses one.

  • Team A secretly shows the chosen clue to one student from Team B.

  • That student from Team B must perform the clue as a sound effect on their instrument (no speaking).

  • Team A tries to guess the clue.

Teams take turns. The first team to guess three clues correctly wins.

Variation

Instead of Team A choosing the clue, the student from Team B (the performer) chooses the clue themselves—but must keep it hidden from their own team and only show it to the opposing team.
